practicum- Kayla #3

In my previous practicum posts, I was frustrated with the lack of discussion surrounding the topics of Glee. I thought that all Glee bloggers had taken the acceptance message to heart and therefore refrained from hurting other bloggers feelings by not questioning opinions. My view on the matter has significantly changed. After FOX aired the "Blame it on the Alcohol" episode, moms, teachers, and other viewers lit the Glee blog up with long-winded explanations as to why they would no longer be watching the show as a family and the disappointment felt in the writers and producers for sending such a message. The message-- that drinking does actually happen in high school and drinking isn't bad as long as you're responsible. Those angry about the episode, deemed the message irresponsible, emphasizing that high school kids are underage and that Glee's message of drinking as long as one has a designated driver, is not socially acceptable. These mixed reactions regarding the episode sparked further discussion. I was particularly relieved to find debate on a forum that had in the past been a bit too jovial. There should be a link along with this post, showing a sneak peak of the "Blame it on the Alcohol" episode.
