Blog #6 - YouTube and Hulu

On YouTube I find that I only watch clips of something I missed on television, that was a live moment I may not find in other places, or funny videos that have been posted and circulated online. For example, one I watched recently is of a baby that looks terrified every time the mother of the child blows its nose, but then laughs as soon as its over. While these are by no means educational or necessary use of time, it is clips and videos that everyone is discussing and circulating on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter.

On Hulu I watched an episode of a television show I missed, Glee. The ability to get all different programs in one place and watch with limited commercials is ideal. Hulu also posts the shows very quickly after they air, so for someone like myself currently lacking a DVR I can catch up during the day when I have free time.

I find that the two sites are used, at least by myself, for very different purposes. YouTube is where I would go to present a live clip to someone, while Hulu is more television program centered. I would never go to YouTube for a television show because it would not be legally taped or aired at the same quality. In addition, I would have a harder time finding clips of something, like a certain shot during the Masters, on Hulu than YouTube.
