Blog Post #5 - Play Plants vs. Zombies

When I heard heard about all of the acclaim that this game has received, and all of the platforms that it had been made for, I was expecting a very different kind of game than what "Plants vs. Zombies" turned out to be. I was expecting the game to have unbelievable graphics, intricate gameplay, and an amazing musical score, however, this game was very different. It was simple, and after playing it for a little while, I think that its simple gameplay and controls made the game have a low learning curve, which contributed to the main reason why it has been such a popular and successful game. Its simple design made the game accessible to all age groups and technological backgrounds. Therefore, because it is so easy to play, many people enjoy playing it, which is the reason why it has become so popular.
Personally, I loved playing the game. The design is very similar to games that are being designed for cell phones, which are in the style of a "tower defense" games. The object of these kinds of games is to defend a base while enemies attack you. I enjoy playing games like thisand liked how different flowers could be used as different weapons to fight off the zombies. It was a really unique kind of "tower defense game," and the strategy that I found to be most successful was to place the sunflowers all the way in the back and guard them with the green flowers, so you can maximize the amount of suns that you can collect, to grow more flowers. I also enjoyed the mini game levels that were placed throughout the game, such as the bowling game. It made the game more fun than just a typical "tower defense" game. After playing the game, I understood how even though it was simple, it could still be so popular, and overall, I really enjoyed playing this game.
