Practicum #6 - Amber

My roommate a couple weeks ago switched from a Blackberry to an iPhone. As both of us had been using the Blackberry for years, I was interested to see what her thoughts would be. While she still has some issues with texting on it, she loves the way the apps work. Specifically, I tried out the foursquare app and compared the iPhone to the Blackberry. On the iPhone it is much clearer which badges you are receiving, the maps make more sense, and your notifications even appear differently. As these are both very popular smart phones I was shocked to see so many differences. I never thought that a certain phone would benefit the ease of use to the application.

I have also recently gotten a new Blackberry, which surprisingly has made it more difficult and less inclining to "check-in" places. The application is not easy to locate and as mine is now a combination of a touch screen and keyboard phone, finding places and making it clear where I want to check in is much more difficult. However, I feel like the GPS has greatly improved and the locations my phone finds me at are far more logical. I'll be interested to see if this holds true when I am in a larger city with more locations to check-in.
