When I googled myself, to no surprise the first things that popped up were my facebook and twitter accounts, along with some of my latest tweets. I assumed that these would be the first things I would see, and when I continued to go down the line, my places of employment began to pop up. I work at WSUM which is the student radio station, and a lot of stuff from that website came up along with some of my earlier blogs such as last year from the big ten basketball tournament. After coming across all of my former places of employment and my social networks, I was disappointed to find only one article from high school cross country. HA...not surprised since I was not a good runner, but still disappointed.
After all of this, it began focusing more on my last name. Brett Valentyn, who is a cousin of mine, plays for the basketball team at the UW, and is clearly a much bigger deal than I am, therefore most of the search for my own name was devoted to him. More disappointment.
Seeing all of this made me thing of two things: 1..I'm not a big deal...and 2...I am pretty happy that I'm not a big deal because aside from a few tweets that may not have been very politically correct, there was really nothing out there that would be a deal breaker with a future employer.
