Blog Post #3 - ChatRoulette

So I just went on ChatRoulette for the second time in my life, and like the first time, I came away from the experience mentally scarred. I first heard of ChatRoulette last year. After an evening out on the town my roommates and I decided to dress up in gorilla and banana costumes and go on the site. I found the site even more disturbing this time around, as people have only gotten even more foul and inappropriate with their bodies and bodily functions. It seems as though most people on ChatRoulette are male. Perhaps its because I’m a 20 year old male that none of them want to talk to me, and would rather hit the skip button until they find a human with a more attractive chest than my own. Don’t get me wrong though, women aren’t free of scandalous or inappropriate activity on this site either. A year ago, while in my gorilla suit, a woman offered to show me her chest if I’d take off my mask. Similar to that first experience, I only lasted a few minutes on the site before I was utterly disgusted and was forced to leave. I failed to hold a successful conversation, or conversation at all for that matter, either time on ChatRoulette. I don’t see much of a future for ChatRoulette, other than as the crude laughing stock of a chat community. Hopefully I’ll never be back on the site again.
