So it's been about a week since my last post, and I've been tracking the WEAC website, but I have decided to add to what I am tracking because I feel it makes it much more interesting. I've begun to follow the updates on "supportwalker.com," which is exactly what it sounds like. One of the biggest things that I've noticed since I started tracking these two sites is the ridiculous amounts of contradictions within them. Now I'm not an idiot. I realize the nature of politics and that contradictions are going to be unavoidable, but what I've seen is astounding. I don't want to give away too much before my presentation tomorrow, and I"m sure I'll find more tonight when I"m going through it, but it's actually incredibly interesting. Aside from that, I've found it very interesting to watch the different links and stuff like that, which keep popping up as this protest goes on. For example, WEAC, since the protests have begun up by the capitol, has added a direct link to "collective bargaining." It doesn't really talk much about what it is, rather it leads the user to a page that talks exactly about what Scott Walker will be taking away from the teachers.
One of the dilemmas I've been faced with is trying not to seem biased in my research. I feel very passionately for the educators and all of their rights, as my family is a bunch of teachers, so it's been difficult to keep my bias out of my research, however I think I am doing a decent job. More to come tomorrow!
