Practicum #3 - Amber

After spending more time on foursquare I have found that it is one of the more unique social networking concepts I have seen many people involved in recently. The benefits to businesses are obvious, but what about for the average individual like myself? As a result, I came up with a list of questions about what the real purpose of foursquare is and who really benefits, if anyone:

- Do you use foursquare? Why or why not?

- After hearing about it does it entice you to use it if you didn’t already?

- What about foursquare has made it so successful and do you think other sites will take these concepts and mimic them?

- Do you find the site “sketchy” at all or have other issues with it?

I'm interested to see how familiar others are with this device as well as their feelings on it.

  1. I've never heard of foursquare. So hearing about this on Wednesday was new to me. I found it a very interesting social networking tool for users. I can see how it may hold the interests of some people; the use of a GPS-like feature to mark popular places that people check in and to stalk where friends are is certainly intriguing.

I don't have a smart phone, but if I did, I think it'd be fun to try it out. Although I do agree that it is a little creepy to know that your location is always available and visible to other people.
