Blog Post #5: Plants Vs Zombies

I had actually heard of and played PvZ long before this assingment; I spent the better part of an afternoon playing it at the recommendation of one of my friends, and I could easily see the addictive side of it. You keep going through the levels, you encounter new types of zombies to defeat, you get new types of plants; endless combinations to try. There's usually some interesting culture to go with this game too. For example, when the game was released, there as a type of zombie called a "dancing zombie" which resembled Thriller-style Zombie Michael. After his death, there was some dispute, and the new dancing zombie was more of a disco stud, Saturday Night Fever Style.

There was something else I encountered a few weeks ago, a short story describing a man trapped in his house by the undead, and somehow the plants in his garden began destroying the zombie horde. It was written in such a way that until the end you did not realize it was talking about PvZ, and the last sentence was the narrator cursing the zombies, as one had appeared wearing a cone on its head, in reference to one of the enemy types in the game.
