Practicum #5 Amber

An interesting component to foursquare is that it changes as there are new developments to the cell phone applications. Different than some of the other projects other classmates are doing, foursquare has developed throughout the course of the semester as has my familiarity with it. One can now see locations more clearly, have the ability to search within different ranges, and have different points awarded.

A new set of points I've begun receiving as I've done some traveling this semester is bonus's for the distance between my last two check-ins. Some of this is lazyness, in that I only check in when it is somewhere exciting, which is especially true when I am in a city other than Madison. I haven't decided why foursquare seems to think this is worthy of more of these random points, since the point is to improve your check-ins at local spots, hence the benefit of being mayor. The new application has also begun telling me how many more days of checking in until I am mayor of a location. However, the issue I have with that is that what if someone else checks in more days in a row than I do, this number is no longer accurate. Needless to say, foursquare still has some glitches to work out besides that of the less than accurate GPS.
