From blipping back and forth with Djadonis, I actually wanted his number from my friend to talk about other kinds of music. We exchanged facebook names, and have talked about music on there. Blip opened my world up to new people, and started a great relationship with me, and someone that I have never met before, but through blip and our common interest in music, we are now friends outside of the blip.fm world, and message on Myspace. Messaging is what I don’t really like about Blip. Fm. You can’t send messages to people outside of the messages that you send in your musical blips. However, maybe this is what separates blip.fm and other social media websites, and that you talk to others through music, and create relationships that way.
Today I blipped a playlist called love triangles, where I blipped seven songs relating to love triangles in people’s lives.
Pretty much all of my time on Blip.fm has been spent trying to gain listenership. However, I haven’t really “stopped to smell the roses,” so to speak. Blip.fm is a music social network website, and while I have been looking at what other people have blipped, and gave them props, I haven’t really paid any attention to music that is being blipped of artists I don’t know. Today, I went through all nineteen of my listeners and went through their profiles, and looked at. . I liked the songs that UnaturalSoul blipped the most. Some specific ones that I enjoyed were “Step Up” Drowning Pool, Got it Made by Theory of a Deadman. I also searched anyone who had blipped my favorite drummer, Virgil Donati and found that someone had. I listened to a song by Iron Maiden that Blip user Gui Romano blipped called déjà vu and gave him props. I also listened to the Sex Pistols song “God Save the Queen” on CPCDINZ’s profile, which came up on my news feed. After listening to a ton of new music that I hadn’t heard before, I realized how cool Blip actually was. I was finding users that has similar tastes in music as me, and was able to enjoy songs that they have blipped in a list, similar to a playlist and just enjoy their streaming music. I have put a lot of time and energy thinking of the songs that I have blipped in the past, and I hope that people appreciate the good music that I blip and give them a playlist to listen to.
