Today, I also took my inquisitive and adventurous mind to the sessions section. This section of blip.fm, is reserved for artists that play shows only for blip.fm members. It is a private and intimate show and makes it worth it to be a blip.fm member because it not only introduces you to new and exciting music, but also can be cool if your favorite band is being featured in the sessions section. I watched past interviews of bands that I have never even heard of, one that especially I liked was from JasWho. The host of the interview said that they had over 1,500 views for this particular interview. I found this really surprising that this many people watched this interview live of some random DJ from San Fransico. He talked about his future tour dates for that night, as well as at the end of the month in Miami. The interview also consisted of a large discussion about his gear, his upcoming album, and other things.
After the interview, of course I went on to Blip.fm and searched for people who have blipped Jaswho? and gave him a listen. I really liked what I heard in a track, “All Night With You.” I searched members who had previously blipped Jaswho? and looked for other artists that I hadn’t heard of to discover new music. I reblipped to the song, “Lonely Girl” by Above and Beyond Pres. OceanLab, which was originally blipped by Blip member SuuuperK. The song is similar to Jaswho? in that it is house music, but with a very melodic vocal line. I began to look at blip members who listen to this style of house music, and blipped my favorite song in the genre of house music, “So Sorry Mr. Atari” by Avici at the blip member Translucida because she listened to Jaswho? and in the message I wrote, “Thought you would like this because you listened to Jaswho?” Because she listened to Jaswho, I thought she may like some music I listened to in the same genre as well. I blipped a few more songs by Avici such as “Electric Masterbation” at other listeners of Jaswho? (Shazzam_ and before I signed out of my account, I remembered seeing that there was a live show tomorrow at 12Pm on Blip Sessions, and made a note to definitely check that out.
