Practicum - John #6

Seeing as I've kind of let this part of the wikis slide, I'm spending this post discussing the forums and community present in the different Wikias.

In the Fallout Wiki, I decided to check out a subforum about the Fallout World, i.e. the setting the games are based in. I clicked on a thread asking "If you could create a Vault, what would it be like?" (In the games, Vaults were safehouses from nuclear holocaust, but each had a unique condition, such as hallucinogenics were released into the air supply, or the armory did not have a lock on the door; they were designed as experiments on humanity). I found some interesting ideas; here are my top three.

A Vault who's entire population believes that they are on a spacecraft headed toward a distant star, and that the bombs were the liftoff engines, To test the effects of Space Dementia without the enourmous Government cost.

A vault filled with puritanical Christians, Jews, and Satanists to test how far religious tolerance could be stretched.

A vault with everything made twice as big as usual, but entirely populated by dwarves.

While I doubt any of these would ever make it into a game, it's pretty cool to see people's ideas.

Next I hit up the HIMYM wiki. Which didn't have a forum. So I moved on to the DC Comics Wiki forum, which turned out to be a general forum for many more comic publishers, such as Marvel, Image, or Dark Horse. On the front page for the DC Comics Related thread, I saw no fewer than 4 threads asking where "a good place to start reading Batman" is. I also noticed that I was one of 6 people on the ENTIRE forum, which included 28 subforums of various topics, and most of those had subforums of their own. I figured that this forum wasn't the most active of places, especially when compared to some other places that offer similar services, such as the forums on Comic Book Resources.
