Practicum - Jamie (Blog #5: Tween/Kid Audiences)

The tween demographic represents users ranging from ages 8-12. They are known as the “Internet users in Training or the Internet Explorers.” Today, presenting on tween users, I came up with this list of questions:

1. Were you an active Internet user when you were a tween (8-12)? What did you do online? How do you think Internet usage have changed?

2. Do you think tweens are too young for online media?

Here is the example I showed in my presentation of a tween user I found in U.S. Department of Health and Human Services's Audience's Insights. Here we have an eleven-year-old girl who claims to be an active Facebook and Twitter user. I am curious to how people feel about young Internet users such as her.

3. The eleven-year-old girl mentioned before represents one of the many Tween users who are continuing to grow more involved online. There is an continual increase of young users each year and this is certainly effecting the ways the younger generation are taking advantage of technology for their own use. So what do you think of the evolving generation and their advancing technology use?
