Blog Post 5: Plants vs. Zombies

To begin with, the concept seems pretty random. Why plants vs. Zombies? That part seemed to make little sense. As I started to play the game and think about it in relation to other online games that people become addicted to, I noticed that it has the basic model of trying to shoot something at something else, however the player isn’t as active in aiming the plants that shoot. You are required to “plant” the plants in a way that is effective as the zombies start to attack, but other than that you just have to wait for the suns to fall and hope that the plants do their job. The ads in between each level were very annoying, but definitely created a desire to download the game instead of playing it online (I was able to resist the temptation).

I wasn’t exactly a huge fan of the game, but could see why people would be. It works well as an easy distraction that doesn’t require too much focus and I wouldn’t be surprised if a number of people play it during class because it allows you to play, but still focus on other things going on around you at the same time.
